Precision Engineered and Manufactured in the United Kingdom

Hambini Bottom Brackets are amongst the lowest friction bottom brackets in the world. They are used by recreational cyclists, road racers, triathletes and time trialists from around the globe. They are of proven design and are manufactured in the United Kingdom. These units are of a one piece construction which makes them inherently resistant to creak, they will maintain perfect bearing alignment and function under loads in excess of 4000W.

Hassle-Free Maintenance

All Hambini bottom brackets can be installed and removed with a conventional bearing press, they use a controlled method of installation using the recommended fitting adaptors, they require no hammers or specialized tooling for removal. Additionally, the wearing component – the bearings – can be serviced in situ or removed within just a few minutes. The bottom bracket has been designed to be fully rebuildable.

Unrivalled Performance

Unloaded bearing spin tests are a poor measure of frictional performance but they do highlight good bearing alignment. The link below is to a video of a Hambini Racing Bottom Bracket that had completed 10,000km

Class Leading Parasitic Drag Loss (Friction)

The graph below shows how Hambini bottom brackets perform in comparison to the bottom brackets of other manufacturers. The test conditions model real world cycling and more importantly mimics realistic frame tolerances. All of these tests have been conducted with an eccentricity of 0.1mm which is generally the maximum permitted in frame specifications – the reality is tolerances have been known to be much worse than this. Misalignment is more critical to friction than the type of bearing ball material, a slight misalignment can easily outweigh the difference between a top of the range NTN bearing and a mediocre ebay no name bearing. The results show that bottom brackets which have an element of structural linkage between the drive and non-drive sides (one piece/threaded etc) perform much better than those which are multi piece.

The high torque and low RPM of pedaling causes high Hertzian contact stresses on bearing surfaces which cause friction levels to change over time. Those bottom brackets which have used ceramic bearings, start off with fairly low levels of friction but over time their friction increases dramatically. The super hard ceramic balls grind a track into the comparatively soft bearing races causing friction to increase. This would be analogous to trying to drive a locomotive train on a road, the wheels would cut grooves into the road surface due to the huge difference in surface hardness.

Bottom Bracket Stiffness

A Hambini BB is a one piece bottom bracket. It actively contributes to the stiffness of the bike’s pedaling platform. Threaded and multi piece bottom brackets have an element of play in their design so they do not contribute anywhere near a comparative level of stiffness. Reviewers of Hambini BB’s often comment on their feeling of improved stiffness, this is due to them being one piece and undergoing a proprietary heat treatment process. This makes them stronger and stiffer. This is a difference the end user cannot see – but they can feel.

Cervelo S3 and the inevitable bottom bracket creak (when it finally came), lead to never ending visits to the bike mechanic. Finally, it was time to do a comprehensive Google search & Hambini’s YouTube video demonstrating the flaws with pressfits was a revelation. Responses to my email were prompt, followed by swift delivery to Perth, Australia. This product is fantastic – such a simple solution to a frustrating problem & so easy to install. Hoping that Hambini makes a Campy compatible version soon.

  2. Jimster

WOW… what a difference. I was skeptical about buying a bottom bracket from an unknown company but given Hambini’s background I don’t know why I had doubts. Service was excellent from start to finish. Very prompt, courteous and thorough. Bottom bracket fit and function were pefect. Like other’s I received it in a reused amazon prime box hence the 4 for quality.

  3. Kevster

I don’t know if it is in my head but after fitting this my bike feels so much faster. Applying power is so direct. And holy F*ck is it beautiful

  4. HeinrichHH

Straight forward to fit and works without any problems. Way stiffer than the POS Shimano I had before.

  5. Chris R.

The quality of the bottom bracket is evident right out of the box. Beautifully machined and the bearings are silky smooth. The owner of my LBS is an experienced mechanic and he was impressed with the design and quality of the BB. Installed on a 2016 Synapse Carbon without issue. Quiet and smooth on the road. Recommended without reservation,

So I’ve had a BBwrong equipped Chinavelo since 2013 that I had just accepted would routinely grind up bottom brackets. Now it’s so quiet and grind free it’s sort of a shame to put such a nice BB in such an uninspired bike.

As for the cursing, you can’t trust people who can’t or won’t curse.

  7. Tony

Beautifully engineered product. Attentive service. Could not ask for more, really.

I bought this bottom bracket a month ago, and before leaving my feedback I decided to test it well on my Cervelo Rca.
The bottom bracket itself is really well made and very smooth. I solved with it the problem of creaking….no more noise at all. The only bad thing is the installation. In my opinion the caps Hambini provides are not enough. The most tricky thing is the first insertion. If the bb doesn’t enter perfectly square with the hole frame you risk to damage your frame.
I made a quite long video of the installation, which in the end went fine but I had to make by myself a tool to centre the bb into the hole!

Great bottom bracket. Replaced my CeramicSpeed one. Install went smooth with perfect fitment.

  12. Steven

Fast delivery of a very high quality BB with detailed install instructions. Brilliant. Thanks

  13. Michael

Fits tightly, runs smoothly, solved the problem!

  14. Alan L.

Once again the high quality of Hambini’s products comes through. This is my second BB from him and once again the installation was a breeze and the result was a perfectly smooth spinning and creak free BB that I’m sure will last for years. Thanks very much Hambini, I will most certainly be back again!

  15. Valentino

This is easily one of the best BB in the market. Removing the old BB might require some fiddling, especially in BBRight setting, but inserting the hambini one was very easy using just a normal press. Took it for a spin and the sand sensation while pedaling is gone as well as total and complete silence from the bottom bracket. Couldn’t be happier, I was about to buy a new bike after years of trying to fix the noise, but this is way cheaper than a new bike.

  16. Brett Forsyth

Hambini was super helpful at all steps of the process. The BB itself was flawless. So smooth and just feels amazing.

  17. Graham W.

Helpful advice and quick delivery. Precisely made and easy to fit to my Cervelo.

  18. Denis Chevrot

Fast shipping and best bottom bracket

    Quality component.

Q & A

I have a Cervelo S3 with individual plastic cups pressed in from each side. Both bearings sit inboard the frame with the cranks flush with the frame. I have a Rotor InPower 3D+ non drive side power meter with 30mm spindle. The drive side Rotor crank is BBright specific ie. it has a section built in to reduce the distance between cranks to 79mm. I also have the standard Rotor drive side crank which would give the longer distance between cranks. If I was to replace the bottom bracket with a one piece bottom bracket, depending on which drive side crank I used, I could either use a bottom bracket where drive side bearing sits inside or outboard of the frame. Is the an advantage of using one of these types of bottom brackets over the other? Paul Jennings asked on August 6, 2024

Yes you could. the only issue is the DBCA of the crankset. that would have to be shimed accordingly.

Depending on which drive side crank I use I could use a BB with the drive side bearing either inboard or outboard. What I was interested in knowing is if there would be a benefit of using one type over the other?

Will this fit my cervelo aspero and I’m using Easton ec90 cinch cranks Cheers Gary Gary asked on January 24, 2023

It will if the DBCA is more than 92mm.

Hello I have a R5 & S5, with 3D+ & Flow. Tried to find the DBCA of those crank but there is no official information. Do u know if my cranks may work with this BB? Many thanks! Bon asked on August 9, 2022

you can take the crank out and measure it with a ruler.

Good evening, I’m about to rebuild my Cervelo RCA, can I please have confirmation that the Racing BBright BB 30mm BB30 long axle , will be suitable to use with the THM Clavicula SE crankset. May I also ask the weight of this BB? I Thankyou in advance for your consideration. Kindest regards Russ asked on July 23, 2022

This will depend on whether the THM Crankset has a DBCA of 90.5mm. Other's have used this bottom bracket in that application but I am unsure if they had to do any modifications - it is not a popular choice of crankset due to their cost.

What is DBCA and how can I measure it? Will the Rotor Road Axle Standard (QF 147, Chainline. 43,5) fit or do I need the Offset version? Jan asked on June 30, 2022

This is all described in this post no offset should be required.
