Precision Engineered and Manufactured in the United Kingdom

Hambini Bottom Brackets are amongst the lowest friction bottom brackets in the world. They are used by recreational cyclists, road racers, triathletes and time trialists from around the globe. They are of proven design and are manufactured in the United Kingdom. These units are of a one piece construction which makes them inherently resistant to creak, they will maintain perfect bearing alignment and function under loads in excess of 4000W.

Hambini Bottom Bracket Reviewed by an Engineer

Hassle-Free Maintenance

All Hambini bottom brackets can be installed and removed with a conventional bearing press, they use a controlled method of installation using the recommended fitting adaptors, they require no hammers or specialized tooling for removal. Additionally, the wearing component – the bearings – can be serviced in situ or removed within just a few minutes. The bottom bracket has been designed to be fully rebuildable.

Unrivalled Performance

Unloaded bearing spin tests are a poor measure of frictional performance but they do highlight good bearing alignment. The link below is to a video of a Hambini Racing Bottom Bracket that had completed 10,000km

Class Leading Parasitic Drag Loss (Friction)

The graph below shows how Hambini bottom brackets perform in comparison to the bottom brackets of other manufacturers. The test conditions model real world cycling and more importantly mimics realistic frame tolerances. All of these tests have been conducted with an eccentricity of 0.1mm which is generally the maximum permitted in frame specifications – the reality is tolerances have been known to be much worse than this. Misalignment is more critical to friction than the type of bearing ball material, a slight misalignment can easily outweigh the difference between a top of the range NTN bearing and a mediocre ebay no name bearing. The results show that bottom brackets which have an element of structural linkage between the drive and non-drive sides (one piece/threaded etc) perform much better than those which are multi piece.

The high torque and low RPM of pedaling causes high Hertzian contact stresses on bearing surfaces which cause friction levels to change over time. Those bottom brackets which have used ceramic bearings, start off with fairly low levels of friction but over time their friction increases dramatically. The super hard ceramic balls grind a track into the comparatively soft bearing races causing friction to increase. This would be analogous to trying to drive a locomotive train on a road, the wheels would cut grooves into the road surface due to the huge difference in surface hardness.

Bottom Bracket Stiffness

A Hambini BB is a one piece bottom bracket. It actively contributes to the stiffness of the bike’s pedaling platform. Threaded and multi piece bottom brackets have an element of play in their design so they do not contribute anywhere near a comparative level of stiffness. Reviewers of Hambini BB’s often comment on their feeling of improved stiffness, this is due to them being one piece and undergoing a proprietary heat treatment process. This makes them stronger and stiffer. This is a difference the end user cannot see – but they can feel.

Massive upgrade for my Cervelo S5. Service from Hambini was superb from start to finish. Cataclysmic difference in quality between this and anything else on the market- I ‘ve tried them all. Not a patch on this.

  2. Meadh

I went through FSA, rotor, and ceramic speed bottom brackets before getting this one. This one is miles better, design is completely different. Went in with no issues other than some creaking during installation. 10,000km and I am still on the original bearings. Will probably be due a new set in 2000km.

  3. Justin Elves

Well made, looks brilliant. Installed like a boss. What else do I need to say. Works perfectly.

  4. lobuxracer

I needed to convert from BBRight 30mm to Shimano 24mm, and this bottom bracket made that simple. But, not only did it make it simple, the shell, once installed, never need come out unless your Di2 wiring goes wrong and you must get to the junction located nearby. I appreciate when I can install something, use a decent Loctite bearing mount, and not have to muck with it again. Install of the FC-R9100-P went like butter. Chainline was perfect, FD Di2 mech needed no adjustment at all, and watching the video (especially the piece about checking with a feeler gauge) made all the difference. It also calms your nerves when you hear the loud popping as you are pulling the shell into the frame. I used isopropyl alcohol to clean and Loctite 641 with 7649 Primer and Activator on the frame itself. The NTN bearings are glassy smooth, and I was also able to locate them from a reputable supplier in the US for a very reasonable price without having to ship from the UK. Spares on hand already… To sum it up, I could not be happier, it was really much too easy. and having spent some time fabricating bits for road racing motorcycles myself, this piece is really a work of art and a shame to hide inside the frame.

Fitted this as my Aeroad creak like crazy with the stock shimano BB. When I fitted it, I realised it was a quality product. Big difference during riding. No creak, no slop and no flex. Good upgrade. 5*

  6. Charlie Moores

I’ve bought two bbs from the magician Hambini – one for a creaking Cervelo R2 (with Rotor cranks and an fsa bb) and just last week one for a new S5 that ‘ticked’ like it had deathwatch beetle (with shimano and a praxis works bb) . Both made an instant difference. It may be placebo (tho bear in mind placebos do work) but I’d swear the bikes are faster too. I’ve bought jerseys that cost more than these bbs, and I know which is better value and will give more pleasure long term. If you wonder whether a Hambini bb really makes a difference email the guy – his customer service is astonishing considering most people will probably not spend even a couple of hundred quid max – and let him help: I’m hopelessly impractical and he was patient, helpful, and on the ball. Imho – just do it!

  7. MagicVelo93

I watched the channel, did a quick google search. All the reviews were positive and so is mine. Customer service is faultless, product is faultless and I would have no hesitation in buying another Hambini product again. You are paying for the expertise but you won’t regret it.

The package arrived in Canada quickly and with no added charges via the basic postal service. I had to order the Loctite products from my local machine supply store. Once I had all the components I went to my local bike shop to have it installed. The videos online really helped me explain the whole process to anyone else. Once installed I was surprised at just how much smoother it was than the stock Cervelo threaded BB. The creaking has been complete eliminated and it looks so cool on the bike with its clean angular lines. I keep admiring it!

  9. Allan

I can whole heartedly say this is one of the best BB’s I have ever baught. Well designed as a one piece which stops the creaking with the added benefit of being able to service the bearings without taking the whole thing out. Service was amazing from Q&A to making additional top hat spacers. I could not recomend this more, buy one you wont look back.

  10. Andy K.

    Great service, elegantly designed product.

  11. Ype Poortinga

I had a horrible creak in my nearly new Cervelo S3. Instead of going back to the shop (really did not feel like going back and forth or trust them to solve my problem), I decided to take the leap and look for a permanent solution. I’ve contacted Hambini with a few questions and he is remarkably helpful. Had some problems with installation (the round BB shell was not round) and nearly panicked, but after some contact with Hambini all went well. Skip forward 10 months and another ~5.000km and I can say I’m extremely happy. Not only has the BB been buttery smooth since, it also (unexpectedly) feels like a real upgrade with instant power transfer and extremely stiff. It’s hard to explain and maybe it’s between my ears, but it’s by far the smoothest I have experienced. My next bike definitely gets a Hambini BB again, not so much because you always need it, but just to support this great chap and have my mind trouble free.

Installation was simple, bb is smooth as butter.

  15. Kevin

Works like a champ! Easy to put in and spins great.

  16. Kevin

Fantastic upgrade! Easy to put in and could immediately tell it was stiffer and spun better. F’n love it!

  17. Charlie Moores

Three bikes, three Hambini bottom brackets. Fantastic customer service (no question too stupid!), prompt delivery. Yes, of course there are cheaper bbs around – but ‘cost’ includes peace of mind, quality, the investment of the manufacturer in their product, quality, how well something works, quality…If you want a quality part that will just work and keep on working just do it!

  18. David Finn

You wont get a better bottom bracket for your bike , replased the bb on my cervelo s3 with the bbright shimano hambini bb perfect fit and creak gone, every thing runs smoother with a one piece bb and makes the bike stiffer , ?10 out of 10

Hambini has been nothing short of fantastic to deal with. His products are beautifully made and his customer service is outstanding. The BBright unit works perfectly in my R5.

I can wholeheartedly recommend his BB’s!

  23. Jean Cloutier

Understandable delay considering covid (ordered on July 13th. received August 25th. The BB was installed on the 26th and first tested on the 27th. From the moment I stepped on the crank I immediately felt a immense sensation of solidity and integrity on my 2018 Cervelo R3. Along with Roval CLX50 wheels my ok bike became an unbelievable machine.
Thanks Hambini. Le Psycliste de Val-David

  24. Peter

    Great Product! Good Service!

  25. Andrew D.

Unit arrived in a timely fashion and as ordered. Video and text instructions enabled simple installation to my 2015 Cervelo P3. The supplied installation tools did a great job in what proved to be a tight fit. Looking forward to the first test ride mid week.

  26. Richard

    Excellent Product and Service

This is now the 2nd of these I have purchased (for 2 different bikes). Amazing product, world of difference to my squeaky bikes! Will be buying more soon

  28. Maria Lashley

Well made and came safely packaged!

  29. Jeff Carrol

He might be only 5 years old but he sure makes a mean bottom bracket!

  30. Leon Schulz

Almost had a disaster, one of the caps was wrapped in paper and I threw it out, realised before recycling day and got it out of the bin… phew.. The BB is fantastic, love it, quality product with great service, thanks again

  32. Carl R.

I’d been after a high quality durable BB for my Cervelo R3 after going through a number of them in a relatively short time.
After a number of very informative and helpful email exchanges with Hambini, to determine if the BB would be suitable . I decided to purchase this superb piece of engineering.
I also changed my crankset from FSA to Shimano upon his advice
The LBS fitted it and were very impressed with the quality of the BB shell. The spin test was a surprise too. Thanks Hambini
Now in future, just a simple case of swapping for new bearings when required.
More than happy, just annoys me why manufacturers don’t fit something similar from the start.

  33. Rene C.

Like my BB86 purchase from Hambini this was exceptional in every way. The support, the BB itself, the tools. Everything. Thanks Hambini!

  34. Laurent

Tight fit (as advertised) and running smooth. Suggest telling idiots like me explicitly not to press or otherwise put any direct pressure on the bearing seals. Truly an engineering passion piece!

  36. Daniel Carr

Direct support from the business owner with honest and open advice. Installation seemed quite daunting but was actually simple and Hambini provided YouTube links to videos of the installation. Arguably easier than installing the various two-piece BBs I’ve previously used.

Did it fix the creak? Yes – it did. Initially the creaking sound changed, and I had been told there might be issues with the Rotor 3D24 crankset I was using. I changed to a Shimano R8000 Ultegra and everything is absolutely silent after years of putting up with the creaking.

Would I recommend Hambini BB? Absolutely it would be ,y first choice for a BB if I have any sort of BB style relying on tight frame manufacturing tolerances. I’m not throwing away money trying to solve the creaking any more; and can enjoy my rides without frustration.

Thank you to Hambini – I appreciate both the product you manufacture and the type of direct customer support you provide. All the best!

  37. Alexander

Great product, very responsive communication too

  38. Khalid AL muhairi

    Best quality

  39. Chris B.

… although I though I paid £250. Great service and quality product

  40. Nicholas

After watching a plethora of videos and reading a number of exemplary reviews from knowledgable people I decided to wait for stock and buy the BB for my Cervelo S5 2021. After some (patient and friendly) back and forth with Hambini, I decided to allow a specialist install the BB due to the possibility of poor tolerances from cervelo manufacturing. All went well though and after 2 rides I definitely feel a significant increase in pedaling smoothness and power transfer. Plenty of PBs but no KOMs yet… ha

Do not hesitate to buy and ask questions. Great product and service!

  41. Ray Staats

It has been a while since I received my bb. It is the best upgrade I have done to my Cervelo S5. No more creaking or groaning in the bb. Silent and smooth.

  42. Matthew Bowden

Perfect replacement for my creaking original Cervelo Aspero BB!

  45. Barry W.

My second bike to receive a Hambini BB. Self install is quick and easy. Do watch the install video, it is very helpful.

Was installed on Cervelo S5 frame. The bottom pedal now spins freely! This is the only bottom bracket system that will give the less drag when pedalling.

  49. Robert

I have not tried the BB yet as I do not have the frame that it will be used for yet. The product looks and feels top-notch though and the delivery was fast.

  50. Jeffrey G.

Excellent bottom brackets and helpful service too

  51. George M.

Fantastic! Will be buying Hambini bb for all of my bikes.

Great product for Cervelo bottom bracket replacement. I watched a few videos on YouTube and bought a $50 press on Amazon and had no trouble.

Excellent finish and real quality product. Runs smoothly, no fuss, no creaks on my 2022 S5. Very happy with the purchase.

  55. Dominic

  56. michael tetley

    awesome

  57. Frank

Excellent quality, install was painless, this is my second Hambini BB!

  58. Steve

Beautifully made, almost too nice to hide inside the frame. Very straightforward to fit, made my own press and just followed the video on YouTube. Would high recommend, they are not cheap but worth every penny in my opinion when you consider it’ll last a lifetime.
